Week Four

Week four was our first project critique. I thought the critique was very good and interesting. I was especially interested to see how the other people in my group edited the same footage. We all did it very differently which was cool. All the other groups had really interesting projects too. I was particularly proud of my project because it was well recvieved and everyone seemed to generally get my story in it. The story wasn't quite clear for some, so I am glad that I was able to pull it off. In retrospect, I feel the Kuleshov effect is neat and is an excellent way to introduce students to editing.

We also began our first Continuity project. Continuity consitency is vital in a film and most of the time is common sense or automatic. However, when overlooked, it can become an eye sore or source of confusion. We were instructed to go out and shoot footage that kept continuity. We were giving a short script but my group decided to do a chase scene on top of the parking garage going down all levels. We made sure to keep screen direction and did some really great detail shots of an ignition turn or gear shift. I think it's going to turn out to be another good project.
